Prof. Dr. Jörg Finsinger

Academic Head Full Professor Programme Area Director for International Management

Prof. Dr. Jörg Finsinger has been active in the world of academia since 1982. Prior to joining MODUL University Dubai, he has held the Chair of Financial Services Research as well as the Chair of Public Economics at the University of Vienna. Previously, Prof. Dr. Finsinger held professorial positions at the University of Bern, University of Lüneburg, University of California, Tongij University in Shanghai, University of Miami, and University of Hohenheim- Stuttgart.

Prof. Dr. Jörg Finsinger has been active in the world of academia since 1982 and prior to joining MODUL University Dubai has held the Chair of Financial Services Research as well as the Chair of Public Economics at the University of Vienna. Previously, Prof. Dr. Jörg Finsinger held professorial positions at the University of Bern, University of Lüneburg, University of California, Tongij University in Shanghai, University of Miami, and University of Hohenheim- Stuttgart. He is also a member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, member of the Academy of Insurance, cofounder of the Finance and Ethics Academy in Austria, holds board memberships in public and private institutions - and has been a consultant for Government organizations in Brussels, Bonn, New York, Bern and Vienna. Beside being a successful academician, he has been a part of Board of Directors for several companies: IT Warehouse AG, Sigma Investment AG, Hamburg, Smart Trader AG, Zollikon, Global FX United and a CEO of several companies.

Dr. Philip Boigner

Assistant Professor

Dr. Boigner, an Austrian national, has a vast industrial experience in the areas of investment banking, asset management, private equity, M&A, venture capital, software engineering and consulting in Europe, Australia and the Middle East. In 2011, Dr. Philip Boigner moved to the UAE, the country with one of the most developed and fastest growing economies in the world, to contribute his knowledge and expertise and was engaged as Vice President for Investments in a multi-billion dollar Dubai government entity. His mandate encompassed the development of modern technologies in the Emirate of Dubai and the greater MENA region. More recently, he was appointed as the CEO of the largest Innovation and Venture Capital fund in the region with its offices in Muscat, Oman.

Furthermore, Dr. Boigner is involved into investment-related research, including quantitative hedge funds and emerging markets technology funds.

Dr. Oliver Loisel

Assistant Professor

With extensive experience in corporate management as well as management consultancy, Oliver Loisel balances strategy, business models and processes with E-Business and IT. His work covered the process industry, energy supply and infrastructure, governmental and education, banking, insurance and IT. As co-founder of the ATLAS group, he built up several companies in the service and IT industry and actively manages them. Dr. Loisel´s focus is on strategy and business models in the internet of things.

Dr. Loisel has more than 15 years of experience in top management consulting and adult education. He trained companies, managers, undergraduate and postgraduate students regarding General Management, Strategic Management, Entrepreneurship and Innovation. For over a decade he held several hundreds of speeches during Europe´s largest E-Business Roadshow.

Oliver Loisel is an Austrian national based in Switzerland and has been active in the Middle East since 2011.

Line has an extensive knowledge in advising and helping clients navigate through all their financial, operational and budget related challenges at the policy and process level whilst ensuring compliance with international standards. She is currently responsible for overseeing financial operations for a strategic advisory company, after holding this position in an international advertising company.  She worked with two of the big four accounting firms as a financial auditor and tax advisor, where she assisted MENA based conglomerates adhere to changing government regulations. She also participated in the VAT implementation, where her role was the preparation and review of the audit manual and the training of the auditing team.

Line holds a BA and a master in Finance and Banking from St. Joseph University in Lebanon and a Certified Public Accountant from California USA.

Thomas Meier is a Senior Counsel and Managing Director of Strohal Legal Group’s UAE-office in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, which is owned by Dr. Theodor Strohal.

Thomas Meier, a graduate of University of Innsbruck, Austria, School of Law, was working for over 6 years in renown international law firms in Vienna, Austria, and has passed the Austrian Bar exam with distinction. He also worked in New York City, USA, as well as in Hanoi, Vietnam. Furthermore, he has published articles about various legal issues concerning business law.

Since the beginning of 2017 he has been working in Strohal Legal Group’s Ras Al Khaimah office, where he advises clients from all over the world  in every area of business law, including company setup, corporate law, labour law, international tax law and international contract law, amongst others.

Jana Krok

Lecturer (Part-time)

Jana Krok, a German national, has expertise in consulting and processing the establishment of companies in the UAE and GCC region. Her main duties involve drafting and negotiation of contracts like NDAs, LOIs, Agency Agreements, Share Transfer Agreements, Board Resolutions. Her practical experience further spans to writing legal opinions in various fields of law - labor law, corporate law, inheritance law and international taxation. She has been a guest lecturer at MODUL University Dubai since its inauguration and an adjunct lecturer for undergraduate and MBA legal courses.

Dr. Rashad Yazdanifard earned his Doctor of Philosophy (Management) from Multimedia University, his Master of Industrial Management from Shahid Beheshti University, and his Bachelor Degree in Business Administration from Azerbaijan Accounting and Management higher education institute. As an experienced lecturer with undergraduate and postgraduate experience, he is someone with potential and promise of teaching effectiveness and excellence at the undergraduate, MBA, DBA, and PhD levels, a track record of professional development, and student advising abilities, as well as other services to the department, school, and community. As a lecturer in different well-known universities and colleges teaching mostly international students in different levels of undergraduate and postgraduate, he has become a skilled academician with wide range variety of experiences. Moreover, he has been actively involved in training employees of different organizations internationally. Dr. Rashad has published widely in scientific journals and presented frequently in different international conferences.

Dr. Theodor Strohal

Dr. Strohal is an Austrian national and a Founder of Strohal Legal Consultants. In 1979, Dr. Strohal got admitted to the Austrian Bar cum laude after graduating from Vienna University. He has been working as a foreign lawyer in Singapore since 1993 in addition to offices in Myanmar and Qatar. Dr. Strohal has been a lecturer in financial and corporate law at postgraduate courses at the European Journalist Academy in the University of Vienna Campus from 2002 to 2004 and MODUL University Dubai from 2017. His main interests are: real estate, joint ventures and international taxation and corporate law.

Dr. Edith M Szivas, a British national, is a leading international expert in the area of Tourism and Hospitality with the track record in strategy and development of over 25 years. Her involvement into a number of Governmental projects aimed at strategic development of the hospitality industry across several countries in Europe and Middle East. She is an author of numerous publications and also she is actively engaged into public speaking.

Dr. Szivas has a vast academic experience in the Universities of London, Surrey, Greenwich, Macau, and others. Her ongoing consultancy activity with the leading global organizations like UNWTO and USAID has made her contribution into development of the industry truly invaluable.

Dr. Stranjancevic holds a PhD in an interdisciplinary field of Management in Sports and Tourism from the University of Novi Sad, Serbia. She also obtained a Master degree in an interdisciplinary field of Management in Sports and Tourism and a Bachelor degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management from the University of Novi Sad, Serbia. She attended a Post-Doctorate exchange programme in Leisure - Culture, Tourism, Sport and Recreation as a Human Development Factor at the Institute of Leisure Studies, Faculty of Social and Human Sciences, Deusto University Spain.

Prior to joining MODUL University Dubai, Dr. Stranjancevic was an Assistant Professor at the Canadian University Dubai, UAE and Mediterranean University, Montenegro. She also acted as an Assistant Professor at the Faculty for International Management in Tourism and Hotel Industry, Montenegro / Algonquin College Ottawa, Canada. She was Visiting Professor at the University of Belgrade in Serbia, Akdeniz University in Turkey, Warsaw University of Life Sciences WULS - SGGW in Poland, University of Business Studies in Bosnia and Herzegovina, FH Burgenland - University of Applied Sciences Burgenland in Austria.

Dr. Stranjancevic participated in several governmental and international research projects, attended many international conferences and published several scientific articles in the field of tourism, hospitality and sports management. She is also experienced in the tourism and hospitality industry, having worked as a Marketing and Sales Manager in hospitality and tourism companies.

Prof. Jürgen Simon, with for 40 years of academic experience, is a Guest scholar at the Law University Hanoi in Vietnam, Head of the Institute of Law at the University of Lüneburg, Chair of the European Technology Platform for Nanomedicine and former Head of the innovation and cooperation department at Siemens Healthcare. He has also held positions at CERN and the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory. His research focuses on themes relating to Law and Biotechnology, Environmental Law, Economics and New Information Technologies. He is the author of many books and articles in these areas.

Dr. Declan McCrohan, an Australian national, has over a decade of experience working in the field of Academia throughout Asia and the Middle East.  His academic experience and unparalleled leadership skills have enabled him to develop and deliver a number of unique undergraduate and postgraduate courses at a number of universities including Alfaisal University in the KSA, Zayed University  and Heriot Watt University in the UAE and Victoria University in Australia. Dr. McCrohan’s research interests cover a wide range of areas including financial modelling of Middle Eastern stock markets, entrepreneurship drivers in the Middle East and the development of international education offshore programmes, with particular focus on Australian Tertiary Institutions’ expansion into Asia and the MENA Region. Maja’s teaching environment is a happy, shiny and colorful with focus on effective questioning and critical thinking: “I don’t feed my students with solutions! I provide them with tools to reach the solutions by themselves and teach them to use logic.”

Residing in Dubai since 2010, Maja became familiar with British, American and IB curriculum. With extensive career in mathematics, she learned that working with multinational students was the most valuable and challenging experience.

Jasmina Locke is a forward-thinking education professional, with over ten years of experience in training, lecturing and curriculum development, in both corporate and academic domain. Result-driven and persuasive MBA graduate, with extensive managerial experience and a proven track-record in Tourism industry, Commercial, and Corporate Aviation, winning over customers and creating buy-in with senior stakeholders.

Jasmina Locke is specialised in instructional design, development, delivery, and evaluation of learning programmes. She utilises her broad technical knowledge of management theory and experience, always making sure her classes are relevant and dynamic, and her students enabled to put theory into practice.

A holder of MSc in International Business Management from Heriot-Watt University in UK, Tracy’s experience spans from marketing at many UAE-based businesses (Al Hilal Bank, Sharjah Art Foundation, Emirates Red Crescent) to lecturing at world-renowned universities in the UK and the UAE. Her area of academic expertise covers: International Business, Marketing, International Marketing, Social Media Marketing, Corporate Strategy, Financial Analysis, Operations Management Strategy and Economics. She is an enthusiastic and motivated individual who is committed to a career in the field of marketing. Tracey has completed her undergraduate studies in Neuroscience and is now focused on researching the applications of Neuro-marketing in product development, customer relationship management, social media, product placement, merchandising, events, advertising and advertising designs.

Dr. Abdur Rehman Jami has been a Professor of Mathematics  and Statistics  for Twenty Seven years. He earned his M.Sc. in Applied Mathematics from the Department of Mathematics University of the Punjab, New Campus,Lahore Pakistan in 1991, his Ph.D. (Applied Mathematics) in 2008 from United States of America. He also has a B.Ed. degree.

In 1992 he started his career as Flight Lieutenant in the Pakistan Air Force as a SPSSC Officer (Special Purposes  Service Commission) in the Education Branch at the boarding colleges (PAF College Sargodha and PAF College Lower Topa Murree Hills).The product of the colleges is the GDP (Fighter Pilots) AND  Aeronautical Engineers (Officers ,Chief of the Air Staff, Joint Chief of the Armed Forces of Pakistan). He has extensive experience of working with various  University Courses,and School Curricula (British, American, IB & others) and Head of the Department of Mathematics in the UAE. He is also a trained IBDP Examiner for HL, SL Mathematics with IBDP Examining Experience.

Her different assignments were mainly based in the Levant and the GCC. Throughout her career, Rima has been part of major hotel openings and has simultaneously assisted in the integration of new revenue management talents in the company on task force. The diversity of her career has brought valuable experience in different destinations and market conditions including the introduction of new hotel brands in the market. Rima’s revenue management experience covers rooms, food and beverage as well as recreation.

Felicitas Nixdorf is a German Language Instructor at MODUL’s Language Center.

She was born and graduated from High School in Germany, attending Leipzig university for one year and an exchange program in Russia. She graduated Summa cum Laude in Foreign Languages and Literature, with a major in Education, at the University of Rome, Italy, where she lived for 22 years working at Freshfields, KPMG and CGSH.

She taught German in Italy at Inlingua for 8 years. Since 2011 she lives in Dubai where she worked at JPMorgan and Nord Anglia. From 2016 she is a free-lance German and Italian teacher with a focus on IB and IGCSE students. She also gives private language lessons to Diplomats and Executive Managers of multi-national companies.

Tara hails from the United Kingdom where she studied and worked as an HR and L&D expert in both in-house and consulting roles based out of London. She relocated to the Middle East in 2007 where she joined Jumeirah Group heading up their Corporate Learning & Development function responsible for the learning and growth of over 14,000 employees. She has also worked with many sectors including aviation, retail, banking, education, oil and gas, construction and manufacturing.

Stacey is multi-lingual and has worked in Asia, North America, South America, and Europe in several different industries including hospitality, manufacturing, IT, and education in both the public and private sectors. She is a change “resistance coach” who takes both a structured and intuitive approach working at all organizational levels to support transformations at the group and individual level, so that optimum ways of working are embedded through the organizational culture.

Carol’s experience spans various industries and sectors of specialization. She has been involved in the marketing and operations division for leading global brands such as Harvey Nichols - Al Tayer Insignia, Emirates NBD, JC Decaux and Martha Stewart Middle East. Her passion for continued learning and development caused her to move into academia in 2011. She has taught at the undergraduate and postgraduate level at several universities in the UAE. Carol is currently pursuing her doctoral studies from Edinburgh Business School and is particularly interested in the field of Organization Behavior. She also holds an MBA from Murdoch University and is a qualified Electronics Engineer. She has a certificate in Negotiations from Harvard University and conducts corporate training programs and seminars on various business topics.

During her stint in education, she has delivered a TEDx talk on the Future of Education and was the regional keynote speaker at the Ellucian Live Middle East conference where she discussed her views on higher education and the growing need for a radical shift in existing pedagogy.

Ghada started to work as an Instructor of Arabic language for non Arabs at Eton Institute Dubai since 2013. She joined the group in December 2017 and is active in teaching and academic support. Born and raised in Egypt, she is a native Arabic speaker with years of teaching experience with many students from different cultures and backgrounds. After being certified from the American university to teach the Arabic as a second language she was able to participate in several conventions and workshops. She uses carefully selected texts, teaching materials and communicative approach which forms an actual performance in a language: speaking, reading, writing and listening as each aspect of language learning supports the other. She loves to introduce the Arabic culture which she thinks makes her language so unique and interesting. She believes that “A different language is a different vision of life”.
