MODUL shared findings on how to attract the Sustainable Visitors at Arabian Travel Market 2019

Jasmina Popov-Locke  presents findings on  the impact of attracting the sustainable tourists in the region. Arabian Travel Market 2019.

This week, MODUL University participated at the Arabian Travel Market 2019 Show. This spectacular event took place at the Dubai World Trade Centre during 28th April - 1st May 2019 and covered different aspects of travel and tourism in the region.

 

MODUL had the pleasure to share findings and be part of the critical discussion in “Attracting the Sustainable Visitor” panel. MODUL’s Director of Programme and Research Development, Jasmina Popov-Locke presented a view on the impact of attracting the sustainability-focused visitor, both locally and globally, through various sustainability, eco-tourism and biodiversity initiatives in the UAE.

The panel also highlighted the importance of studying the visitor/tourist demographics that the country aims to attract and how the tourism industry is seeing this movement as an opportunity for growth.

Dina Mustafa, Head of Sustainability Operations at Expo 2020 Dubai, provided an insight into Expo 2020’s aim to be a catalyst for sustainable practices and the partnerships taking place to influence and attract mindful visitors.

Gus Schellekens moderated this panel, Partner Ernst & Young with significant contributions from speakers Shannon Scott, Senior Manager Environment Affairs at Emirates, Alma Au Yeung, Corporate Director - Strategy Projects & Partnerships at Emaar Hospitality, Yousuf Lootah, Executive Director at Dubai Tourism.

A group of third-year students of BBA in Tourism and Hospitality Management programme with a major in Tourism Management also visited the panel and the show to get a glimpse of the latest tourism trends as part of their curriculum.
